Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween!

Well, it's a dreary, gray day here—and just in time for Halloween. We're supposed to get rain and high winds tonight, which makes me feel bad for all the kids who are looking forward to trick or treating. (Mine included.) Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous—sun, warm temperatures, no wind. It's funny how it always seems to work out this way. I remember very few warm-weather Halloweens from when I was a kid. Usually it rained—or snowed...

Regardless, my husband and I will be taking the kids out tonight, even if we have to shorten our route a bit. Afterward, we'll come home and warm up, and then the kids will eat some candy (a special Halloween tradition!) and go to bed. (Friday is still a school day after all!) As for me, I plan on sitting down at midnight to crank out a few words for NaNoWriMo. Cross your fingers that I'm not exhausted before that!

What are your plans for today and tonight? Whatever you do, I hope you have a wonderful Halloween! ☺

Happy Halloween to all my blogging friends!

  3. The halloween thing is not the asme in the UK, many people do celibrate it and dress the kids up for a halloween party but it is also and excuse for the older kids to terrorise people going round trick or treating and mostly egging peoples houses. Hopefully it will rain and dampen their spirits even if I have a leaky roof at the moment. Hope you have a great night, have fun but take care of yourself.

  7. Same thing here, beautiful weather yesterday and it started to rain late last night and still hasn't stopped. The parade at school will probably be cancelled, but we're still going out tonight too.

    Happy Halloween to you!

  13. Oh Dana, I'm the Grinch that Stole Halloween - lights out and pretending not to be at home. The last few years, young parents with a BABY in arms came to my door. Really? Who was that candy for?? One time a mom and dad with 2 infants in strollers came to the door and expected me to take the candy down the steps to them. UGH If a child isn't big enough to walk up my 3 steps and say the magic words "Trick or Treat," he or she doesn't need candy. I loved Halloween as a kid, but greedy people have ruined it for me. Bah Humbug ;-)

    1. I've done the lights-out thing before! I think the same strange mother must have come to my door before too. She was carrying a baby, one that apparently loved chocolate. Haha! You're right: some people really are greedy, and that definitely ruins things for others. I make my husband go to the door. :)

  16. My husband and I planned on giving out candy but as of 7:25 we've had 2 trick-or-treaters. And the doorbell just rang! Two little girls and now four more.I wouldn't be surprised if that's the end of it. It's cold and damp here. Happy Halloween and thanks for stopping by.

  17. Happy Halloween! It's stormy here, and our trick-or-treating will be tomorrow night. Yet we got out to a local college and did some indoor fun this evening. You have to get candy somehow on Halloween! :)

  18. Cute scarecrows Dana. Hope the kids enjoyed their trick or treating. I'm sure by now they are tucked in their beds, fast asleep :)

I remember one year when we lived in Montana, it was really windy on Halloween. It didn't affect our kids since we were going to the church carnival, but I remember driving home and seeing kids out trick or treating almost being blown away it seemed. Feast or famine I guess when it comes to weather.

    1. They had a lot of fun—and went to bed very late. Oh, well. Halloween only comes once a year. ☺

It was so windy here last night. It was sprinkling, so I used my umbrella, and it kept turning inside out.
